much at stake for president obama and millions of americans seeking health insurance. and abc's jon karl has all of the latest from the white house. good morning, jon. >> reporter: the white house is not quite declaring mission accomplished. they say they've finally achieved their first goal, getting the website improved to the point where most people can use it to pick out health insurance. after two months of system crashes and error messages, the white house says healthcare.gov is working for the vast majority of people who try to use it. in a report filled with colorful charts and graphs. the white house uses to measure its success. some 400 software bugs and hardware problems have been fixed. the website can now handle 50,000 users at a time, 800,000 a day. it's now accessible 90% of the time, up from just 40% in october. the man in charge of the website reboot, gave his bottom line in a conference call with reporters. >> healthcare.gov on december 1st is night and day from where it was on october 1st. >> reporter: independent experts say there's little doubt the website is wor

celebrating the life of nelson mandela. 91 world leaders including four american presidents attending tomorrow's memorial service. president obama and the first lady are flying there today, joined on air force one by president george w. bush. abc's chief foreign correspondent, terry moran, from pretoria. good morning, terry. >> reporter: this is a huge week for this country and people around the world. south africa is saying a long and beautifully affectionate farewell to the man that just about everybody here calls tata, father. candles and flowers at nelson mandela's house. a people's spontaneous tribute. at the south african parliament, in cape town, a special session begins this morning to honor mandela. at the fnb stadium where mandela made his last public appearance at the 2010 world cup, 91 world leaders are expected to join 90,000 ordinary south africans in a massive and historic memorial tomorrow. ♪ over the weekend, churches filled with songs and prayer in memory and gratitude for mandela's life. ♪ nelson mandela nelson mandela ♪ >> reporter: but to grasp the

investigation continues. gio, thank you. >>> we're going to washington now. where president obama coming off the white house announcement that the health care website is mostly fixed will make a new push today to get more americans enrolled in insurance. the white house is really racing against the clock now. >> reporter: that's right. and, george, this is a big, new p.r. push beyond just trying to get more people to enroll. the white house is trying to turn public opinion on this by reminding people of what they say are the benefits of the health care law for everybody. things like ending discrimination for people who have pre-existing conditions. and expanding coverage to millions of people who never had health insurance. and there will be a political component to the president's message today, and this push that you will see virtually every day for the next three weeks. he's going to be saying and the white house will be saying, the republicans simply have no alternative to this health law. >> you saw the website working at a much higher capacity yesterday. but still, a lot of bugs th
